23 Jan Diamond Event to be a Hole-in-One

Nothing brings the electronic security and life safety industry together like golf and awards. And this year’s Diamond Event, sponsored by Interlogix, promises to be a hole-in-one! The 2017 Diamond Event will take place at Top Golf — but this isn’t just any ol’ golf outing with lush greens and tiny pencils.

Top Golf is an entertainment complex where competitive drives are weaved in between Maryland crab cakes, char-grilled steak flatbread, and the aptly named Tipsy Palmer. This is where weekend hangout meets relaxed networking.

Each golf ball at Top Golf is equipped with a microchip that is linked to you.

The goal of the game is to launch your chipped golf ball into one of the 11 targets ranging 20 to 240 yards from the multi-decked driving range. Each hole is associated with a score that gets combined with your drive distance and accuracy. Each score is sent to the digital screen in your bay so you can keep track of how much you are schooling your colleagues on the finer points of the backswing.

The best part? No bunkers! Sand pits and greenside ponds filled with antiquated, unchipped golf balls and mutated fish.

The Diamond Event is also center stage to one of the industry’s most prestigious awards. The Morris F. Weinstock Person of the Year will be announced amid the celebration. Last year’s winner, ESA Past-President Marshall Marinace will reveal the exciting news.
